Sweet Blueberry Wine
January 3rd, 2010

Butterducks Winery is a small farm just outside of Savannah, Georgia. They have won no small number of awards over the years and their Sweet Blueberry Wine is among them.

Among the listed wines created by Butterducks is also a “super sweet” blueberry wine, though I admit that I would be wary of it. The Sweet Blueberry Wine is a very good balance of sweet over tart, making for an excellent dessert wine; however, more sweetness might prove cloying.

The Sweet Blueberry Wine is exceptionally smooth with no bitter aftertaste. There was very little immediate dry mouth-feel. However, I did feel that the “cotton mouth” one sometimes receives after a span of drinking seemed intensified with this particular wine.

The blueberries are not overly strong in this wine, but do provide a refreshing change from grapes. I feel this wine would do very well as a summer indulgence. It seems a bit lighter on the palate than many other “reds” such as merlot and cabernet sauvignon.

Overall, it is an excellent wine and I look forward to trying many of Butterducks’ other contributions to the fermented fruit industry.

That’s an excellent question! I forgot to add in the subscribe button when I was creating the website. Ah, well, work in progress is never done. Give me an hour or so and I’ll add one.
    Fixed.
