snippets of prose

Slumbering
15
Feb

Midnight envelopes everything
with bright stars piercing blackness.
Banked tones drown the world–
color and sound muted to stillness.
Formations unbeheld in light
grasp the time of visions soulfully.
Distant dreams leap alive
not falling short from care-filled hours.
Goals are achieved, new ones adjacent,
in this realm of sense suspension.

Cold winds blow unfelt
past painted panes of shrouded glass.
Strong thoughts of chill
will not whip through chinked boards.
Tight weaves and layers protect
and warmly bind like mother’s arms.
Peaceful, quiet, dark prevails;
travails long wore a slackened visage.
Clouds mound and comforts robe
to bring bright visions near.
